Need help on generating session id

Hi, when i try to get session id by using following piece of code
every time i am getting same session id if i try from same browser
(with two instance browsers) like Firefox or IE.

getThreadLocalRequest().getSession().getId()

Can any one tell me why it is giving same session id.
