Eclipse bundles m2e (== m2eclipse) so I'd use that (and I do use that). It also bundles Maven so you don't *need* a separate install. I like to use the CLI though (works better in some cases, and up to date), I never use Debian packages for Java tools though (only for OpenJDK itself)
