SimplePager.Resources.class

I found

SimplePager.Resources resource = SimplePager.Resources.class;

will return error

Type mismatch: cannot convert from Class<SimplePager.Resources> to SimplePager.Resources

And need to use

SimplePager.Resources resource = GWT.create(SimplePager.Resources.class);

why need to use GWT.create()?
