We put all our server requests through a single "manager" object so we can keep track of the server side requests (to drive "please wait" etc)... You could do something like that? Although be painful if other requests happening.
-- The other tactic we use is to group requests into bundles with individual callbacks and a single one at the end when all done. RequestFactory provides this out of the box.
Maybe just having a parent widget that is informed by sub-widgets when they are ready?
The real pain is what to do if one or more calls returns an error.
