IMO, no.

<ui:style> exists only so you don't need to create a ClientBundle yourself when you'd only use the styles inside the ui.xml file.
If you want to share things, keeping them in a shared file is better: it's explicit that it's going to be shared; and anything in ui.xml is then "explicitly" only local to that file.
