Ok, I understand that eclipse:eclipse is retired. So I'll switch to m2e.

However, do I have to "clean up" my maven project first, u. e. remove the files generated by mvn eclipse:eclipse?

Unfortunately, the documentation for m2e doesn't start from the beginning:

This documentation begins with downloading the SDK, but in the second paragraph it refers to installing the plugin with the eclipse UI.
What's the right way then?
