Fully observable data model?

Hi,

In this article about how Google Inbox was made, Garrick Toubassi explain that they build a fully observable data model to be re-used in Android, IOS and GWT.

Do you guys have any idea how they build the fully observable data model? Was it made "by hand" (with observers in each model objects) or is there any existing framework to do so?

I'm not talking about databing with the UI (like Errai or GWT Editor framework), but rather an independent observable data model framework.
