Thanks for the reply.

Have you used the include or exclude element within the source element?  I find that the include element doesn't work at all.

What Ian meant is that if you do not have any <source/> in your gwt.xml then a default of <source path="client"/> is implied; but as soon as you add a <source/> element, the "client" subpackage is no longer implied as a source folder and has to be explicitly added with a <source path="client"/>.
