I converted from Eclipse to IntelliJ CE a few months ago. I agree that it works much better when combined with maven builds as compared to eclipse.
one thing though is that you dont get much assistance with uiBinder templates. So it might be more difficult to pick up as a beginner (unless you invest in the ultimate edition)
one annoying thing is that the styleName attributes are reported as errors since it does not check with the widget class methods.

I just works.
I also like Eclipse with the GWT plugin, but IntelliJ is just a beter IDE in general than Eclipse, in my opinion (!).
