Entering GWT Design mode gives "unable to instantiate class ToolkitProvider"

Noob alert - I'm just installing and working through the GWT tutorials but I've got stuck with this error at the point when I've opened the generated .java test file and I click on its "Design" tab:

Internal Error

encountered unexpected internal error.

This could be caused by a bug or by a misconfiguration issue, conflict, partial update, etc.

org.eclipse.core.runtime.CoreException: Plug-in "org.eclipse.wb.swing" was unable to instantiate class "org.eclipse.wb.internal.swing.ToolkitProvider".

Help please :/
