I can see the benefit of fast compilation but although there are pointers for performance improvements to JRE emulated classes. The code produced by 2.6 is smaller and feels faster ans snappier than 2.7. Are there any performance tests showing the improvements in 2.7 against 2.6 for performance and code size. Code size isn't really too much of a factor but I can clearly feel that the performance is bogged down a little bit with 2.7 at least with our application.
