Thomas,With all respect this is absolutely not FUD spreading . How can this be FUD spreading when we discuss about this for more than a month? Is there anything I said that is not true or not said before on this group or GWT Contributors group? Just take a look what is written on this post (you posted there as well) : https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/google-web- and there was more than 1100 views in 3 weeks so people are more than interested to know what will happen. I am just one of them.toolkit-contributors/1t6x_ Zg1E8I It is not my imagination that something will be gone or not, other people are reading posts as I do. All I said here is just a result of prior discussions on this and GWT Contributors forum by other authors. All of the questions are left without reasonable answers.
You're putting things as if they are facts, when it's still all hypothetical. There's also been a lot of confusion about J2CL vs. GWT 3, and the original presentations were about Google's view of the future of GWT, nothing endorsed by the Steering Committee. And IIRC the decision that GWT 2.x would be a long-lived branch was taken even before 2.7. I believe it's also been quite clear from the beginning of that discussion (and for much longer actually) that Google no longer wants to invest into widgets, that doesn't mean they'd go away, but that someone else needs to take the lead.
So instead of presenting things as if they're truths (which I qualified as FUD), you should be clear that all we know for sure is that we don't know what GWT 3 will be like (except that generators are very very likely to disappear).
People simply do not know what to do in situations like this and they are concerned about the future of their large application.
And this is understandable, and we don't really have an answer yet, except that GWT 2.x support will not stop when GWT 3 is released (contrary to what happened with all previous releases of GWT). The future is not that dark.
