I ported log4j to GWT: http://log4j-gwt.sourceforge.net/

It uses the GWT handlers as appenders, so the configuration is done in your something.gwt.xml file as described on https://developers.google.com/web-toolkit/doc/latest/DevGuideLogging#Configuring_GWT_Logging
