Hibernate is a server technology and you only have problems if you want to share the same Hibernate classes between server and browser/client.

There are tons of resources about hibernate and GWT out there so just read them. Event the GWT homepage has an article about it: http://www.gwtproject.org/articles/using_gwt_with_hibernate.html
