New to Web Developers Group - so a question!

Greetings, all:

I am new to this forum, so I apologize for a sort-of [renewed] ignorance re v4.2 of the Web Developer plug-in from Google.... I feel I very must re-enable it; agree to the "new permissions" required to do so. But I hesitate, right this minute, until I have certain additional information (below).

(A Bit of History: I'm a longtime Web developer : programmer   multimedia producer / interactive-dynamic media developer / broadcast quality HD Video : producer : director : writer / graphic designer / D/SLR photographer : Photoshop wiz / computer animator / audio engineer and musician-composer (and I'm getting VERY ready to learn to develop cross-platform apps for hand-held devices, etc). I spend a lot of time and money keeping up with all of this technology (or as much as I can handle, anyway): the technological advances, changes, updates - across the board. There is always something new to learn / tackle. Web Developer has "changed" again, and I am looking into re-enabling it...as noted).

BUT FIRST:

1. Today I saw a pop-up message from Google appear on a launch of Chrome on one of my many computers / devices (Macs - OSX 10.7.4; Windows OS 7 PCs; iPad 3; iPhone 4; more...) - that new permissions must be accepted to re-enable the Web Developer. I have not used it to build apps - yet; I've used earlier version [mostly] for its debugging tools for my newer Websites / CSS 3 / JavaScript code, etc.

2. Now, w/ v4.2 - I am wondering about MY security - MY privacy - plus my client's. As usual, what I saw flash up (in a Web page from Google about "what's new, etc.)....and could not get back to that info again....hmmmm....  among the things noted [with no further explanation right there], were new lots of  supposedly "great(?)" FEATURES: advanced Web browsing history, personal information dispersal, etc. Global sharing (?) - not everything I want the public to see - not relevant to my various product design(s) for anything Internet-oriented. Same for my clients: current and future. Hence: are these new features going to only apply to Web sites I develop? - or MINE - my online portfolios, etc. IF SO: can they be [disabled] - not used, if I don't like the extent to how much privacy is able to be viewed by ANYONE (either for a Web page or app I create; or my own computers, devices, etc. Web browsing; history; profile items that are "secure" - but maybe NOT ....!)?

3. Like all new or updated products - the Web Developer plug-in / code / app might by DEFAULT (?) - able to reveal / "tell" anyone, upon its use [and anyone's Internet-based private research], EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO KNOW about someone else....however harmless - or private - it may be?...in great detail?...$. I've jumped into the site for Web Developer....so much to review, naturally) - and ONE never seems to [easily] finds the exact answer (or a least not quickly) that one is searching for: definite answers, fall-backs; caveats; privacy or profile / security issues, etc.! Security  / privacy guarantees, etc.

Can anyone, kindly, either point me to the best pages / URIs that will give me the info I seek to read on these subject(S)....or write me a helpful response...one that that will get me some quick answers; so then I'll re-enable the plug-in / app on my computers, etc., in Chrome / other browsers, if / when compatible.

Many thanks in advance!
