IE9 and audio.js

im running a GWT app on an Apache Tomcat server and it uses the audio.js library to implement sound. for some reason when i run it in IE9 only one of the sounds plays, and rather laggily. i have two <audio> tags, one for background sound that loops, and another one for misc sounds. it works fine for Chrome, Firefox and Safari. anyone know what the problem could be?
