Problem when Deploying GWT application on web server

I am getting a problem when deploying a web application on the web
server. Let's take the default application created by eclipse. after
compiling the application, I take the war folder and place it on
tomcat, when i try to access the html file it loads but when it try to
connect to the server, it fails. I talking of the very basic
application created by eclipse, can someone explains me how to correc
this problem, my tomcat is absolutely ok because when i access
http://localhost:8080 the default tomat index loads
