Can meta tag with gwt:property replace url query parameter?

I posted this question in the mgwt forum but it doesn't seem that is getting much traffic lately...

By using ?mgwt.formfactor=phone in the url of my app, I can force the phone form factor even if the app is not in a phone form factor (e.g. desktop). I want to do the same without having to provide the parameter in the url, and I thought setting this meta tag in my host html page would accomplish the same:

    <meta name="gwt:property" content="mgwt.formfactor=phone" />

but it doesn't. Is there a way to accomplish this without setting the property in the URL?
