OK.. User error (of sorts).
-- We had a work-around in place for "instanceof" for static nested classes in GWT2.5.1 (that didn't work in DevMode).
Replacing this with "instanceof" with GWT2.7 gives the correct, desired, results for GWT2.7 ProdMode and SuperDevMode.
