assertion does not work

Hi,

I have an assertion and I know that it fails.

assert (x < dim.x && y < dim.y);
or
assert (x < dim.x && y < dim.y): "fail";

But there is no message in eclipse (development mode and console). I
have used the runtime argument "-ea".

What can I do?
